Revelation 21:3-4 (ESV)
[3] And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. [4] He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Hope for Ultimate Restoration
The exile theme runs throughout Scripture, from Adam and Eve's expulsion from Eden to Israel's captivity in Babylon, pointing ultimately to humanity's separation from God through sin. But God's promise of restoration also echoes throughout Scripture, culminating in John's vision of ultimate restoration when God dwells with His people forever.
Our current exile status serves divine purposes.
